Privacy
A plain-language description of what Nishio stores and sends.
What stays on your computer
- Your local account (name, email, hashed password) and sessions.
- Workspaces, saved videos and channels, evidence, notes, ideas, plans, scripts, schedules, alerts and reports — in a local SQLite database in your user folder.
- Your YouTube API key, encrypted (AES-256-GCM) in a separate file; the encryption key is protected by your operating system’s keychain. It is never stored in the database and never shown again in full.
What is sent, and where
- Official online search and channel refreshes go to Google’s YouTube Data API using your own key — only when you start them or enable a schedule. Google’s terms and privacy policy apply to those requests.
- Links you open (YouTube videos, Google Cloud, Ollama) open in your normal browser.
- Nothing is sent to us. Nishio has no servers, accounts, analytics or telemetry.
Optional features
- Local AI: if you install Ollama, the app talks to it on 127.0.0.1 only. Cloud models are disabled.
- Browser extension: it reads the YouTube page you’re on when you use a tool, stores your library in the browser, and — only if you pair it — talks to the desktop app on 127.0.0.1.
What the app cannot know
Click-through rate, retention, RPM and revenue of other channels are private to their owners. Nishio never shows or estimates them as facts. Saved public statistics are a dated sample, not the whole market.
Data from the YouTube API
YouTube’s developer policies limit how long API data may be kept (normally 30 days unless refreshed). Keep long-term research in data you are allowed to import and in your own notes.
Deleting your data
Remove the data folder (File → Open data folder in the app) after making a backup if you want one. Uninstalling the app does not delete it automatically.
