What stays on your computer, what is sent and where, and what Nishio cannot know.
What stays on your computer
- Your accounts, workspaces, saved research, notes, plans, ideas, scripts, reports and backups: in the local database and data folder.
- Your YouTube API key: encrypted on this computer and protected by the system keychain.
- Extension research: in the browser’s local storage, unless you choose to sync it with your paired app.
- Local AI: models run through Ollama on your computer. Cloud models are disabled.
What is sent, and where
- Google’s official YouTube Data API, with your key, only when you run an authorized search, fetch uploads, or enable the daily search. It receives the search phrases and channel IDs involved.
- YouTube pages you open yourself: the extension reads only what YouTube has already rendered in your tab, when you click. It never scrolls automatically, never reads private endpoints and never bypasses a CAPTCHA.
- The extension talks only to YouTube and to the app on 127.0.0.1. The app listens only on 127.0.0.1, so other devices on your network cannot reach it.
- Links such as “Videos on YouTube” or “Open source” open in your normal web browser.
What Nishio cannot know
Private channel metrics are only visible to channel owners. Nishio never shows CTR, retention, RPM, revenue or audience demographics for other channels, and never invents them. Search volume and future competition are not available either.
- Every number comes from a saved observation with its source and time. When a value is missing it stays Unavailable; a real zero stays zero.
- Ratios and scores are calculated within your saved sample and say how large that sample is. When the sample is too small, you see “Insufficient evidence” or “Needed for a score” instead of a number.
- Rankings are within your sample, not across all of YouTube. Language and Shorts/Long-form are only known when the source states them.
- Creative briefs, ideas and scripts are drafts that need your research and editing. They are not predictions of results or earnings.
YouTube API data retentionData from the YouTube API is saved locally, but public API statistics cannot be archived indefinitely: YouTube’s rules apply (normally 30 days). Automatic refresh and deletion are not implemented yet. Keep long-term research in permitted imports and your own notes, and refresh or remove older API data yourself.
Your responsibilityUse only data you are allowed to use, respect each source’s terms, and review every draft before publishing. Nishio organizes research and writing; the real experiments and final decisions stay with you.
