First run: your local account

The first time you open Nishio you create a private owner account and your first workspace. The account exists only on this computer.

Applies to: Desktop 0.1 · Extension 0.1

The setup screen is titled “Welcome to Nishio” and explains: “Create your private local workspace. No API key or AI subscription required.” You can switch the Interface language and the appearance (light or dark) on this screen before you start.

Create the owner account

  1. Name: how you appear in the app.
  2. Email: used only as your sign-in name on this computer. Nothing is sent to it.
  3. Password (12+ characters): protects the app if other people use the same computer.
  4. Workspace: a name for your first research space, for example the channel idea you are exploring.
  5. Research language and Output language: the language of the content you want to study, and the language of the plans, ideas and scripts the app writes for you. They can differ.
  6. Time zone: filled in from your computer; schedules and reports use it.
  7. Click “Create my workspace”.

Three separate languages

  • Interface language: English, Arabic (right-to-left) or French. Change it any time from the language menu at the top of the window. The desktop menus follow it.
  • Research language: which videos and channels you want to study.
  • Output language: the language of briefs, idea drafts, scripts and reports.

After setup you land on Start a channel. Your workspace settings, including both research languages, can be changed later in Settings & team.

Private by designThe owner account, password and workspace are stored in the local database inside your data folder. There is no cloud account, and nothing about your account is sent anywhere.
Keep your passwordThere is no online “forgot password” service, because there is no online account. Keep your password somewhere safe and make regular backups from Settings & team.
